Just Answering Questions: Flag Day Fascism
Time for a reader Q & A! Leave your questions here.
Update: The answers to your questions are HERE!
Update June 12: I have turned off submissions because there are a LOT of great questions! I will try to post answers on Friday. I’ll also turn comments back on here for folks who were having interesting conversations with each other. See you soon!
Hello subscribers (and future subscribers!) Between the real-life Escape from LA sequel, the “Flag Day” fascist festivities, and fake feuds between sociopaths, this week has that sickening feeling I usually associate with elections, so I figured it was time for a Q & A. Got a question? Ask away! I hope to post my answers before the weekend.
For those new to this feature, here’s how it works:
1) To ask a question, join as a paying subscriber, and post your question in the comments section below.
2) I will answer as many of your questions as I can in a separate article that will run a few days later. Sometimes I bundle up questions and address common themes. Try to keep your question brief!
3) The article with the answers will be open to everyone. In other words, you need to be a paying subscriber to submit a question, but not to read the Q&A.
I call this feature “Just Answering Questions” because there are topics that, if I were to broach them out of the blue, would be like throwing a bomb into your inbox. If you’ve read my books, you know they cover disturbing ground. This way, you choose the topic — and hey, I’m just answering questions!
If you are already a paying subscriber, you are all set — you can submit a question in the comments section below!
If you’re not a paying subscriber, this is a great reason to become one. This newsletter is my livelihood and your support keeps it going. I have kept my newsletter free and it will stay free: I don’t believe in paywalls in times of peril. Voluntary paying subscribers ensure all articles stay open, including the archives. I am very grateful to paying subscribers and I offer this Q & A as a thank you!
Note: Past Q & As were so popular that I had to shut down submissions within a day, because there were so many. I suspect that may happen again, so let’s get rolling — leave your questions in the comments section below!

Yes! I have been waiting for another Q&A. Thank you for doing these!
My question is about Gavin Newsom. While he has had some great messaging this week, I can never quite shake the sense that he is all in on the balkanization of America, given his ties to Pelosi and the Getty family, his, ahem, appreciation of the finer things in life, and so on.
I'm not sure if I've read too much of your writing or if I'm just paranoid all on my own. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
How do you tell when feuds that involve the administration are real or not (e.g. Trump/Musk recently)?
