Is anyone good going to do anything ever?

I am worried that Trump is purposefully trying to tank the dollar and its status as global reserve currency, as a part of his plan to cripple the US and make it easier to take over. Where can I move my money to be safe(r) during all this, and be less financially susceptible to Trump’s whims, and what did people do in similar situations in the autocratic countries you have studied?

We've seen people who have not committed a crime arrested and detained. We've seen judges and elected officials arrested. The purge of the CIA, FBI, and military is being conducted in plain sight. Tariffs bring economic collapse closer. Illegal deportations continue. How soon before the military is used against Americans on US soil?

Happy you are back! Why do educated white women support trump musk?

All the white educated women I know would never even think of supporting Trump/ musk. We are all over 60. You’ll have to probably find an age group or profession, that is under 60.

I always had this somewhat cartoonish image of the maga woman but recently I found out that my coworker is solid Trump musk supporter. She is in her forties. I would assume she is one of many like her.

I hear so many people say "the damage is done, we're cooked - no coming back from this." Others express hope that we'll dominate the midterms and start repairing the destruction and come out OK. My thoughts lie somewhere in the middle of those two scenarios. What do you think, based on what you've learned from your research?

How can we as individuals make the best financial planning choices to take care of ourselves and children’s basic needs for the future? I know this may sound ridiculous with the horrors we are experiencing, but with my background in community mental health I also know we can’t fight if we are desperate and needy, which is exactly what corrupt leaders want us to be. I have 4 children from 10-23. I’m not talking about being rich- just not being helpless. We have typical retirement savings but I don’t know if I can trust financial systems anymore.

I don’t have a question but I’m reading your book and enjoying very much although it makes me sad at the same time. I feel like I’m reading an ending to a larger story of our making. It’s like having your best friend visiting and a day before they’re to leave you begin missing them and rob yourself of the present. If that makes sense.

If Elon Musk actually does relinquish his acting presidency, it looks like Stephen Miller is poised to become Trump's new éminence grise (I think that's French for "big greaseball"). Is there any way to stop this cycle of people waiting in line to try to influence our nominal president? Is there any way to get the deluded 40% of the population to see how weak and subject to manipulation Trump actually is?

Related, since musk’s illusion as the kingmaker was shattered in Wisconsin, do you see a breaking point coming with congressional republicans with any of the potential shadow presidents?

Is it my imagination or are some pundits that were reluctant or afraid to suggest what your well researched and written books have been calling out for years, are now "jumping on the bandwagon". They sell subscriptions, speaking engagements, merchandise etc. to help us resist and "fight back". I often enjoy reading their free commentaries but wonder if I'm just being manipulated by a skillful communicator. Is the movement being "monetized"? Any suggestions on navigating among and selecting good sources of information and commentary.

Aloha Sarah, if you could think of a symbol or infographic that could show us the illusion they have created regarding red and blue States what would it look like? I heard your interview with Jared Yates Sexton and I am heartily sorry for not taking action regarding women's rights, because I had fallen for the red vs blue bs on some level. I realized I had allowed a part of my empathy and soul to be sliced off when I thought. "Damn, I'm glad my daughter will be ok in Wa state" and didn't go beyond that. I am truly sorry. Thank you for your honesty and courage. 🙏🌈🌼

I watched Duck Soup with the Marx Brothers last night. For me, it kept alternating between hysterical funny & hysterical horrific…Hysterical funny eventually endures. Whaddayathink? And, always, bless you.

Since Trump is firing employees of the Parks all over the country, it is a good thing you had so many wonderful visits in the past. Hopefully, voters will oust the congress members who are enabling the devastation of our democracy and put in people to help restore decency again.

Glad to see you're back. To anyone interested. I just finished a 5 part series about WNC. This is a deep dive meta-journalist style look at the influence in Iowa exerted by WCN and how it translates into policy that affect people's lives.
